Here’s the situation: You are trying to troubleshoot a relative on-premises network and you need to access the browser interface of the router.
We have all used a combination of 192.168.x.x. Unless you find the address of each default router on your hand, you’ll eventually find something that causes you to stumble.
For example, you can often find information on Windows or macOS with a simple command. Open a command prompt (start> run> ‘cmd’) and then enter ipconfig.
The address you want should be next to the default gateway under your local area connection and will usually start with 192.168 on your Mac. Information can be easily found under the network option or by using the terminal, the command netstat -nr | use grep. Start
If for some reason you are unable to obtain the IP address of your router using that method, we have prepared a brief list of the most popular router brands and common default addresses.
This list includes most router manufacturers with a dozen or more models, especially if they deviate from the standard 192.168.1.1 address.
The default default router IP address refers to the IP address of the router you are trying to connect to and log in to. This is required for home or corporate networks.
The router’s default IP address is required when accessing the router’s web interface to access the control panel and network settings. When we type this address in the address bar of the web browser, we can easily access the network settings of the router.

An IP address identifies each computer or device connected to the network. The network may be the Internet or a small local area network.
A public IP address is the IP address of your device on the wider Internet. In most cases, a new IP address will be assigned each time your device is connected to the Internet. There are many online tools available to help you find your public IP.
Your router provides a local IP address on each device connected to itself. This local IP address is anonymous to the broader Internet and only works within your local network.
Most routers provide an IP address to begin with. 192.168.XXX.XXX The steps above show you how you can find the local IP address of your router.
An external address managed by a router is set when connected to an Internet service provider with a broadband modem. This address appears from web-based IP lookup services such as IP Chicken and Routers.
This is a similar process with other manufacturers. But on the Linksys router, you can find the public IP address on the status page in the Internet section. .NET routers can call this IP address of the Internet port and display it in the Maintenance> Router Status screen.
How to find the local IP address of your router
For home routers, set the local address to the default private IP address number. This is usually the same address for all other models of that manufacturer and can be found in the manufacturer’s documentation.
You can also see this IP address in your router’s settings. For example, most Linksys routers display a private address called a local IP address in the Setup> Basic Setup screen. NETGEAR routers can call it the Gateway IP Address on the Maintenance> Router Status page.
Some routers can only be accessed through a mobile app, such as Google Wifi. That app, you can open the Network and General> Advanced Network> LAN page to see the local IP address of the router.
The administrator has the option to change this IP address during router setup or later in the administrative console of the router.
Unlike other IP addresses on the home network, which are frequently changed from time to time, the router’s private IP address will remain static (static) until one manually changes it.
